The “Must- Reads” if you are a horse racing fan!

A wealth of online horse racing information can be accessed through a variety of Web sites, which we'll take a closer look at a little later. These sites will often include the features you are looking for like entries and race results, updated news, handicapping tools, contests, community forums and much more.

There are a few of these sites that are considered “must reads” by all involved, including general fans, industry participants and seasoned handicappers alike. Below we'll take a look at a few of the most popular sites currently on offer for online horse racing information, and explain what exactly they provide and why it's pertinent.

DRF.COM—This is the site of Daily Racing Form, which is the original chronicler of the American Turf. Founded in 1894 in Chicago, this publication continues to provide horse players with valuable information each racing day through features like past performances, workout reports and exclusive owner, trainer and jockey interviews.

Bloodhorse.com—This is the signature site of Blood-Horse Publishing, which is widely recognized as the Thoroughbred industry's most respected trade publication. Bloodhorse.com compliments Blood-Horse magazine, which was founded in 1916 and currently publishes once a week. It covers all facets of the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry with breaking news, sire lists, farm management, pedigree profiles, medication issues, investigative reports and a host of other information.

Equidaily.com—This is a wonderful site that aggregates online horse racing news from a wide variety of sources, including general new sites and sites that are focused on the sport of horse racing. This site is a must visit for general race fans looking to keep abreast of the sport's happenings.

Paulickreport.com—This site also aggregates horse racing news from around the Web, but in addition also offers the well-respected insight of its founder, Ray Paulick, who was once the Editor-in-Chief of The Blood-Horse. There are also guest commentaries penned by some of the sport's most high-profile participants. This site is considered a leading independent voice on the sport of horse racing and it also boasts an active community that share their insights.

Followhorseracing.com—This site was launched a couple years by The Jockey Club, which is the principal governing organization of the sport and the steward of the Thoroughbred Stud Book, as part of its America's Best Racing initiative to help attract new fans. Among other things, there are blogs from many of the sport's leading experts, previews and recaps of big stakes races, and a Racing 101 section to help new fans learn about the sport.

Equibase.com—Equibase is the official database of Thoroughbred racing, so this is the place to go for all of your statistical needs. There are entries, results, race replays, past performances and free online horse racing handicapping contests with cash prizes. Horse racing is a sport that lends itself to the Internet era because of its vast array of statistics, and the fact horse racing is built on the premise of having an opinion (think betting). Alfred G. Vanderbilt H – The Jockey’s Showcase

Justin Phillip and Valezquez

A grade 1 thoroughbred horse racing event held at Saratoga Race Course at the Saratoga Springs witnessed the classic example of how jockey’s skills pay-off at a given race.  The Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt Handicap was named after well known owner who had served as the chairman of the Now York Association Board.

The six furlong sprint was won by Justin Phillip who had missed the title last year by a neck. August 4 the dark bay colt defeated Bahamian Squall, Gentlemen’s Bet and Delaunay. Even though I had my favorite as Gentlemen’s Bet, Justin Phillip gave a run for his life!

The five year old son of First Samurai and Ava Knowsthecode, trained by Steven Asmusssen was seen to fight out to victory when jockey John Valezquez kicked him into gear after the turn for home; sidelining his competition into the inside he ran the outside at the final sixteenth, timing 1:08.59 with a two length victory.

Other experienced jockey were Luis Saez aboard runner up Bahamian Squall, Joel Rosario leading Gentlemen’s Bet into third, Rosie Napravnik partnered with Delaunay placing forth and Javier Castellano leading Caixa Eletronica into fifth .

All of the above mentioned jockeys were at their best during this race however, the winner Valezquez was particularly happy with his running.

In a news article given by Horse Blood, Valezquez had said; "The speed developed the way I expected it would," Velazquez reported. "I was right behind those two horses (Gentlemen's Bet and Delaunay), and I was aware of the horse that was inside (Bahamian Squall), so I kind of got him pinned down in there. I made my move around the three-sixteenths pole, and he responded."

Winning his first title from a career of 5 starts, the five year old had recently been run down by Bahamian Squall at the Calder Casino & Race Course at the Smile Sprint Handicap dated July 6.

Reading about the talented Valezquez, I tried my hand being a jockey at fantasy horse race game. Predominantly, I preferred being the trainer playing the game online, but this time I am willing to take on the challenge as a jockey to my champion horses.

Train to be the Best

The son of legendary Curlin is set for the Jim Dandy Stakes, July 27.  Palace Malice a dark bay identified by the small star on his forehead is an American Thoroughbred known for his 2013 Belmont Stakes win followed by Oxbow and Orb. Sired by Curlin and Dam Palace Rumor, this stallion is a great mix of breed fooled on May 2, 2010 making him a three year old this year.

Preparing himself for the Grade 2 Stakes at Saratoga Race Course he clocked 00:49.77 over four furlongs, making it the 34th quickest of 95 at the distance on the morning of July 21, when he was seen at his fifth workout since his victory at Belmont on June 8.

The Jim Dandy Stakes that is ran as the late July Sunday event at the Saratoga race course was inaugurated in the year 1964. Open to three year olds and above, it distances over 9 furlongs. Named after the colt called Jim Dandy who had won the Travers Stakes in 1930, this event will be in its 50th running this year.

I am hoping to see a great amount of action and my eyes is on Palace Malice. The trio of the jockey-trainer-race horse is at its best with trainer Tod Pletcher, Jockey Mike E. Smith and Palace Malice, and I am hoping to see him set the race straight by his win!

Remembering his “suicidal” pace at the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs I am assuming there is going to be pressure among the rest of the participants!

Even though the real thrill of horse racing remains at the tracks, it is however possible to bring the race to you. While you sit at home and experience an entertaining virtual game played online, you can feel the adrenaline rush with the 3D horse racing fantasy game. You can plan practices as a trainer or be the name on the leader board as the jockey winning the most prestigious races of all times.

Why not try racing the father and the son – race Curlin and Palace Malice and watch the real winner thrive through! www.horseracegame.com

Gervinho rules the Oceanside Stakes Opening Division

What a race! The Oceanside Stakes opening division witnessed the thrill of horse racing at its prime. Gervinho took the title home winning by a neck in the one of the most outstanding race at Del Mar, July 17. Defeating Greeley Awesome by a stretch, the bay colt sired by Unusual Heat and Dam Foreverinthegame took charge of the first division. The second division was won by Rising Legend.

Charging in from the outside and smashing away his pacesetter Manando, Gervinho shouldered weight of 123 pounds timing 1:33.88.  Freakin Rocket led by Mike Smith was a tough competition but was left past behind at the furlong mark finally placing third. Julien Leparoux aboard Greeley Awesome finished second.

For Gervinho this was his second stake victory after the Zuma Beach Stakes last year. Among his other races worth mentioning were the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf and the Silky Sullivan Stakes at Golden Gates Field in June. Similar to the other games found over the internet, this game is at par with excellence. Providing a 3D game visual simulated race, only a real horse racing event can be fitting match to it.

Every horse racing fan’s choice and as for early learners it is never too late to try out the best! http://www.horseracegame.com/tournaments.php

Victory for Victor Espinoza – The Triple Bend

Victor Espinoza does it again! The forty-one year old rode to a glorious victory with Centralinteligence, winning the Group 1 Triple Bend Handicap at The Betfair Hollywood Park last week. This seven-furlong race is treated as a “Win & You’re in” long awaited racing event; Breeders’ Cup Challenge at Santa Anita Park.

California, Inglewood hosts this race every year; contested on synthetic dirt cushion track it is open to three years and older. Previously known as the Lakes and Flowers Handicap, it was renamed in 1979 after Frank McMahon’s colt ‘Triple Bend’ who had set a world record time of 1:19.80 for a distance of seven furlongs at the Los Angeles Handicap held at Hollywood Park race track.  The world record however stands in the name of Rich Cream, who had re-set the time at 1:19.40, fractions of a second faster than the previous record holder – Triple Bend in 1980.

This year the track witnessed a new runner Centralinteligence; jockeyed by Victor Espinoza and trained by Ronald W. Ellis. The chestnut gelding has a noticeable pedigree; sired by Smarty Jones and dam Shootforthestars, Centralinteligence shot his way towards the finishing line leaving behind his pacesetter Comma to the Top.

Last year’s sixth place jumped up to the winning position, giving him and his trainer their first Triple Bend win; with the timing of 1:21:57 with Comma to the Top and Morning Lee in the second and third position respectively.

The game of horse racing is highly capricious, and involves a large amount of risks and combinations, however this instability and uncertainty is what draws in more and more crowd! Horse racing has and always will remain one of the most challenging sports in the history of mankind.

Try our 3D simulated horse racing game and be a part of this challenge! Race at the Triple Bend, jockey to ride away your horse to victory.  www.horseracegame.com
